Volunteer Training Sessions

All YC volunteers must attend a training session before they can work with our participants at programs.

There are 3 EASY STEPS in the Youth Challenge training process:

  1. RSVP for a session
  2. Complete the required training
  3. Attend a program as a shadow

Training Dates:

Trainings are offered each season to prepare new volunteers to assist participants at programs.


Wednesday, August 14

4-6 pm @ Youth Challenge (800 Sharon Drive, Westlake)

Thursday, August 15

6-8 pm @ Youth Challenge



Wednesday, August 21 CANCELLED

4-6 pm @ Hanna Perkins Center (19910 Malvern Rd., Shaker Heights)


Thursday, August 22

6-8 pm @ Hanna Perkins Center

Only ONE training session is required.

NOTE: space at each training is limited so volunteers MUST RSVP to reserve your spot!  Trainings are only required ONCE.


Shadow Days

Shadowing at a program is STEP 2 in training, giving new volunteers the chance to see a program first-hand and meet some of the kids they’ll be helping at YC.  New volunteers can sign up for a shadow day at the training session they attend.  Please check the program calendar for times and locations.

After completing the training, new volunteers will be placed on our mailing list to receive seasonal information and sign up for programs.
