Young Professionals for Youth Challenge (YP4YC)

YP4YC

YP4YC is a group of enthusiastic and dedicated young professionals committed to helping Youth Challenge raise funds and awareness for the organization, which brings together young people with physical disabilities and teen volunteers who inspire each other through adapted sports, recreation, and social growth activities.

Why Join YP4YC?

  • Network and build meaningful relationships with other like-minded young professionals (within YP4YC and otherwise)
  • Interact directly with members of YC’s Board of Trustees
  • Develop useful skills that prepare you to sit on a governing board
  • Develop competencies for working with (and learning from) young people with disabilities
  • Gain new perspectives by working closely with colleagues, volunteers, and participants of varied backgrounds

Primary Responsibilities

  • Volunteering
      • Required volunteer participation at a minimum of one YC program per year (preferred once per program season)
      • Attend regular YP4YC meetings (usually quarterly) and committee meetings (monthly as needed)
      • Required volunteer participation at signature fundraising events, including Brats, Beer, and Brackets and Battle of the Bartenders
      • In total, YP4YC service requires a time commitment of approximately 15 hours per year for meetings, events, and volunteer opportunities
  • Giving/Fundraising
      • Required minimum $25 annual membership donation (can be made to an event or campaign, but cannot include event ticket purchase)
      • Help secure at least one (1) in-kind donation for one of YP4YC’s signature fundraising events, OR donate at least one (1) gift card valued at $25 or more to support these events
      • Encourage the involvement of your company or organization through volunteer or sponsorship opportunities
      • Leverage your time, networks, and resources to help build the capacity of Youth Challenge and YP4YC (i.e. sharing YC posts on social media, making introduction between YC and your employer as appropriate, etc.)
  • General
      • Promote Youth Challenge’s mission
      • Be an advocate for young people with physical disabilities
      • Support Youth Challenge through social media
      • Build your professional network
      • Learn new professional and leadership skills
      • Develop a deeper understanding of what it takes to run a successful organization
      • Make your mark by helping youth with physical disabilities in the community
